I mean really, imagine Vegas the first time you remember seeing it, it's pretty spectacular. And then to see it in the eyes of a seven year old - even better.
We started on Fremont street because I wanted the girls to see the light show. When we were pulling up I said, "Look girls there is the famous cowboy in lights." Ellie quickly said, "Doesn't look too famous to me."
We got there a bit before they started the light shows for the night so we checked out some stores and got the girls some souvenir shirts.
Then some quick dinner for the girls and off to the show!
After the light show Kevin and I were hungry so we decided to go to Heart Attack Grill for a cheeseburger and the girls got butter shakes.
They make you wear hospital gowns, if you weigh over 300 pounds you eat free and seriously it was good but so truly heart attack worthy and messy. At one point Ellie looked at me and said, "You better clean off that face girl!"
Ellie and Mason didn't weigh enough (even together) to make it free, but they felt the effects after and needed an ambulance. (Not really.)
Then we were off to the strip. We told the girls to count wedding chapels on our way. I'm pretty sure they counted over 20. We got to the strip and started with the water show at the Bellagio. Kevin dropped us off to go park so we watched a couple of shows without him. The girls were amazed by the first show and the intensity of the sounds it would make. Then they wanted me to video a show for Kevin in case he missed all of them and got super silly.
Then posed for a few pictures while we waited. We headed down the strip to see the Volcano eruption next. The girls loved the hotels and lights and I loved their excitement.
We walked back through the hotels through the Forum shops to see the clouds on the ceiling. On our way there the girls wanted to take this picture and didn't quite get it right so they took it again on our way back.
Then onto the conservatory at the Bellagio to see the incredible Thanksgiving display. There was a tree that talked, a giant apple made of roses and an 821 pound pumpkin. Not to mention everything else!
We exited the Bellagio but stopped for one more water show so Kevin could see it. Then we found the car and were off to our final location. The M&M store. They were amazed by the sheer volume of candy and of course left with their own bag.
When we first arrived there were people dressed up to take photos with. I told the girls I wanted a picture of them with Elvis - but they said no way. I told them the next Elvis we saw they were going to....we went the rest of the night not seeing one. We saw about every other character including a very manly Hello Kitty. They were so happy. But Elvis must have been looking after me because right when we walked out of our last stop - there he was...in gold. It was AWESOME. He even said, "Viva Las Vegas" - which Ellie had been saying since we first left the house. Then he told them "Thank you very much" and to stay with their mom. Good advice Elvis.
I seriously had the best time taking the girls from Fremont street to the strip and from outside hotel spectaculars to inside hotel grandeur. And what kid wouldn't love the M&M store? When we arrived I told the girls we were going to party all night - which we did. Every time we went somewhere new and it got later and later Mason would say with excitement, "We really are going to party all night."
On the way back to the hotel the girls wrote these letters - notice the tick marks for the wedding chapels - they were seriously the most fun ever that night!
When we finally arrived at our hotel it was officially the next day. They don't even look worn out.
After some zzz's it was time to get on with Thanksgiving but before heading out for St George, we ventured out to the pool - because we could! The girls practically had the entire gorgeous pool to themselves. Because it was morning and Vegas has no need to heat their pools the main pool was freezing. We stuck to the two pool size hot-tubs, but Kevin did pay the girls each a dollar to jump into the freezing pool. Their faces after jumping were worth way more than a dollar.
We got ready, the girls continued to have fun doing what they do and we headed back to St George playing word games in the car and remembering our fantastic night.
After the trip I think Ellie was finally worn out. We walked in the house and she said, "It feels good to be home."
I love everything about that sentence and can't think of a better way to end this post.
