The "S" Word

Ellie told me today that someone wrote the "S" word in one of their books at school. I didn't think Ellie knew the "S" word - or what I would reference as the "S" word, so I asked her what word it was.

She started..."ST..U..." Ahh...Stupid. I'm so glad that is the "S" word she was referring to.

And yes, we do think it's a bad word.

Ringtone

Okay - I have been looking for a new ringtone on my phone. I asked Kevin and he suggested the theme song to The Biggest Loser - likely because it is my favorite show and his ringtone is from one of his favorite shows.

I am not a big fan of that song - so I said no, plus something just isn't right about that song as a ringtone to me. Ellie usually takes my side as she did with this discussion and as of today I am still left with my old ringtone.

Last night The Biggest Loser was on - we all sat down to watch it like we normally do on Tuesday night and Kevin started singing the song - and recommended again I should put it on my phone. Ellie was quick to tell him no - it's not a good ringtone for mom. Then he asked why and the answer was priceless -

"Because then everyone would know she was fat!"

Yep - that is the reason I shouldn't have it. Because then my ringtone would be a public announcement. If that is the case....Kevin might just be a serial killer. Can you guess his ringtone?

HIGH HIGH HIGH

I seriously think Disneyland is a forever "high." It's so magical and awesome and happy and just a perfect natural high. Ellie wanted her birthday party to be like grandma's 65th with everyone at Disneyland. We couldn't get everyone there, but for Ellie's 6th birthday/spring break/Easter Kevin and I were at least able to take Ellie and Mason. Mason didn't know we were coming, we just showed up on her door and told her to pack her bags. She was so excited and Ellie was super excited to surprise her. When we left on Tuesday morning Ellie said, "This is going to be the best day of my entire life."


We spent Tuesday afternoon/night, all day Wednesday and all day Thursday at Disneyland and California Adventure. Grandma had given the girls $40 each and they had fun planning how to spend it and spending it on treats and souvenirs. It was fun to watch how different Ellie and Mason were about their money and how they wanted to spend it. Ellie knew exactly what she wanted - a charm for her new bracelet from grandma and a stuffed animal. Mason shopped and shopped and shopped trying to decide what to buy and wanted to make sure there was enough $ leftover for treats. I just love those two girls.



This is a picture I've taken of the girls each time we've been to Disneyland together. It's going to be funny when they are 20 and I still make them take it.

We stood in line for Minnie's autograph and Goofy's and Pluto's and Mickey's - but Mickey had to rush away so Ellie and I went to visit him in his house while Kevin and Mason did a roller coaster. Mason caught up with him the next day. We stood in line forever to see some princesses - and by the time we got to them, Ellie was so tired and hungry she got scared to go alone to see them and didn't end up standing by them, so I got autographs for her. We ate right after. :)


On our third day at Disney, it was pretty busy - a worker came up to us, asked how many were in our party, and then took us up to the front of the line to ride right away. The ride went down so we didn't get on, but then she made some "magic" for us. She took us to the next ride, put us in the fast line, gave us another fast pass for a ride at any time we chose, and gave us premier seating for a parade. She asked why we were there and we told her for Ellie's birthday -so she made Ellie a birthday button. Then Mason was a little sad, so she made Mason one for her birthday in August. Everywhere we went the girls would get a "Happy Birthday" and fun treatment on the rides. I just wish I would have thought to get them our first day instead of our last. It was really fun for the girls.

For their free fast pass ride Ellie and Mason chose Thunder Mountain Railroad- the ride is super fun, but it's a surprising pick for Ellie because last year she wouldn't ride it and yet this year it was her favorite ride - the only one we rode three times. It's a thrill notch up from last year's favorite - Winnie the Pooh. Maybe next year - just maybe - The Tower of Terror will be her favorite - but probably not - it will just have to continue to be mine.

We tried several nights in a row to see the fireworks and on our last night - it was successful. I can not believe how incredible that show is from start to finish with stories and lights and a real Tinkerbell flying overhead. The girls were amazed too.
At California Adventure (where the awesome Tower of Terror is) we went to see "Turtle Talk with Crush" - an interactive video. Crush first chose Ellie to talk with - wished her a happy birthday, asked her where she was from - asked her if there was good surfing in Utah, to which Ellie responded yes. Ellie was so hesitant with her responses - she looked to Mason with each response to make sure she was doing it right or okay. It was so cute, I just wish I had a video of it.


We were just so happy. I overheard Ellie say "Mason, I love you." There was one comment that cracked me up, "Oh no, this is going to be the worst day of my entire life!" Yes- from Ellie on her way to once again try the Tower of Terror. She told me she will ride that again when she is 25- no 30, or maybe never again ever. So I guess that won't be her favorite.


Friday we spent the first half of the day in the pool and then lunch at Downtown Disney - then we headed back to LA to spend time with the rest of Levi's family. Logan is just so fun and cute and Titus - well, he's a baby, but cute and I was excited to meet him for the first time.


Saturday we got to go to an Easter egg hunt in Robin's neighborhood. It was such a cute hunt. Each kid got to find eggs and the eggs had pennies that you took to the Easter store to buy prizes with. So fun. Again the differences in Ellie and Mason were fun to watch. Mason is more like I was as a kid - not afraid to do anything and doing it all. Ellie is more reserved and stays back. The lady had a cute little ladybug release and Ellie wouldn't touch them. I managed to have her get one, but she was really cautious about it. Mason had several and Logan ended up with the entire container. On the sack and egg races - again, Mason was involved, Logan wanted to be everywhere, and Ellie was next to me.

We had a BBQ at Levi's that afternoon and and then colored eggs before our flight home. I loved this trip. It was so fun to be with Ellie and at Disneyland and spend time with my family. I mean really, what's not to love?

Sunday was Easter - Ellie spent the morning with her dad and then we all went to my mom's for an Easter dinner and another egg hunt with a larger part of the Heath family. Another banner birthday/Easter/spring break!

Kindergarten Friends

We are so excited about the friends Ellie made this year. These are her closest three at school (Ellie S, Kayla, Brooklyn) but she loves them all. She has had or tried to have a play date with almost every girl in her class. She's so surprisingly social --- with the girls.

Mrs Sandy - her teacher from last year - has a son in Ellie's class (Bryce) - the other morning she told me Bryce and her had a conversation about Ellie at dinner - how cute she is. I guess Bryce has a little crush on Ellie. Ellie has never even talked to him. :)

Play Date with Grandma

In April - Kevin and I went to San Diego to celebrate his 34th birthday. We left before school got out on Friday so Grandma and Ellie had an afternoon play date.

They went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point - which I was way jealous about - I love that place. I love that Ellie has the map.




When I called to check in with Ellie, my mom was just cracking up. This is what Ellie was doing that was making herself and my mom laugh.


They had a great time exploring the grounds.




Ellie painted little "shoe" pots for me and planted flowers in them. She was so excited to give it to me when I got home and I was so excited to receive them! I love flowers!



She also learned about and planted some other seeds that we are successfully growing at home.


Ellie loves to be with my mom. She also loves to plant and grow stuff. She always helps my mom with her garden and is way excited about our little flowers growing now.

Every day should be as great as a play date with grandma.

I need time!

I am so far behind in my blog. I love to do the blog - and am sad it's not up to date. But life is just keeping me so busy. Can we make the day longer? I always try to make deals with Ellie so that she won't get any bigger...if the days were longer I could also keep her small longer - hmm...I think I'm onto something.
